When to use and what to include

Build and revise pricing online, then generate a client-ready quote PDF. Use this after reviewing plans or visiting the job site when a property owner or general contractor asks for your price on a specific construction project.

What to include

  • Client name, project address, scope of work reference such as plan set number and date, and the specific trades or divisions your quote covers.
  • Line-item breakdown by task or CSI division: description of work, quantity and unit of measure, unit price, labor cost, material cost, and extended total for each line.
  • Allowances and exclusions clearly listed: items priced as allowances with a stated dollar amount, and work explicitly not included such as permits, engineering, or finishes to be selected later.
  • Conditions and assumptions covering site access, work sequencing, power and water availability, and any owner-furnished items your price depends on.

Common questions

Can I build and revise this Construction Quote online before sending it?
Yes. Update scope of work, quantities, labor, and totals in your browser, then generate a polished Construction Quote PDF.
Can I save this Construction Quote and reuse it for similar jobs?
Yes. With an account, save the estimate in your history, edit it later, and reuse relevant line items and job details for similar work.
Can I export this Construction Quote with finalized pricing and terms?
Yes. Download a clean PDF with the final scope of work, line items, totals, terms, and customer details ready to send.
Should I quote using CSI divisions or just plain task descriptions?
For residential and small commercial work, plain task descriptions are fine. For larger commercial projects, organizing by CSI division makes it easier for the GC to plug your numbers into their overall budget.
How do I handle items the owner has not decided yet?
Use allowances. State a dollar amount for the undecided item, such as a flooring allowance of a specific amount per square foot, and note that the final price adjusts when the selection is made.
Should I include overhead and profit as a visible line item?
Follow the bid instructions, contract pricing method, and disclosure rules that apply to the job. If overhead or fee is shown separately, define its basis and where it applies; otherwise make sure the line prices and total still match the stated scope.
How do I make my estimates look professional?
Add your company details, itemized labor and materials, totals, schedule, and terms so the customer can review the full estimate in one PDF.
Should I email or text my estimates?
Download the formatted PDF and send it by email or message so the customer can open, print, and keep the complete job details.
