Skylight Leak Work Orders for Roofers and Remodelers
Write skylight leak work orders with unit IDs, mapped photos, temporary measures, repair options, testing limits, exclusions, warranty, and sign-off.

A homeowner points to a brown ring at the lower corner of a skylight shaft and says, “The skylight leaks.”
That statement identifies where water became visible. It does not identify where water entered.
Rain can enter at the skylight unit, glass-to-frame seal, cladding, flashing, curb, underlayment, roof covering, fastener, valley, wall, or another penetration upslope. It can travel along sheathing, framing, insulation, or the shaft before appearing indoors. Water on the interior glass or frame may instead be condensation. An open venting skylight can admit rain without any product or flashing defect.
A useful skylight work order does not rename the customer's symptom as a confirmed cause. It records the reported event, unit and roof configuration, interior and exterior observations, access and diagnostic limits, suspected paths, immediate protection, approved repair or replacement scope, testing limits, interior restoration boundary, warranty, and sign-off.
The work order should make it possible for the customer, office staff, field technician, roofer, remodeler, manufacturer, and any later investigator to distinguish what was reported, what was observed, what was tested, what was repaired, and what remains unknown.
Use Documentorium in stages. Record the customer's words and urgent conditions in the work request intake, then use the roofing inspection report for the unit ID, roof-area ID, interior symptom, weather history, observed paths, photographs, tests, access limits, and confidence level. Triage active water before selling a repair
An active leak can create electrical, slip-and-fall, falling-material, and broken-glass hazards, along with further property damage. Repeated wetting can also create a microbial-growth concern. The intake should identify urgent conditions without instructing the customer to climb or open unsafe materials.
Ask from a safe location:
- Is water actively dripping, flowing, or only staining?
- Is the ceiling or skylight shaft bulging, sagging, cracking, or shedding material?
- Is water near a light, fan, receptacle, switch, wiring, motorized skylight, or other electrical equipment?
- Is the glass cracked, displaced, or making unusual sounds?
- Is anyone below the affected area?
- Can movable property be relocated without entering an unsafe area?
- Has the customer already applied a tarp, sealant, tape, bucket, or interior covering?
- Is severe weather continuing?
- Is the roof wet, icy, snow-covered, wind-exposed, steep, fragile, or otherwise unsafe to access?
- Is the building occupied by children, tenants, customers, patients, or animals who need separation from the area?
Use a work request intake with an emergency escalation rule. Do not tell an unqualified occupant to open an electrical panel, puncture a ceiling bulge, walk on the roof, or lean through the skylight.
Write the first field objective narrowly:
Attend to document the reported active water condition, establish a safe work area within contractor authority, perform the listed visual assessment, and install only an approved temporary protective measure if conditions permit. Permanent cause correction, concealed-material removal, electrical work, drying/remediation, and finish repair require the separate scopes below.
Record the reported leak as a timeline
Leak patterns are diagnostic evidence.
Capture:
- first observed event;
- most recent event;
- weather type reported: rain, wind-driven rain, snowmelt, ice, freeze-thaw, or no precipitation;
- wind direction and intensity if known from a reliable source;
- how long precipitation had occurred before water appeared;
- whether leakage continues after weather stops;
- exact interior location and movement;
- drip rate or affected area described without false precision;
- whether it occurs every storm or only particular conditions;
- indoor temperature and relative humidity if measured;
- showering, cooking, humidifier, drying, construction, or other moisture generation;
- whether the skylight was open or recently operated;
- prior roof, skylight, flashing, sealant, interior, insulation, or HVAC work;
- previous temporary repairs and products used;
- roof age and skylight age if supported by records; and
- photographs or video from the customer, labeled as customer-provided.
Do not write “leaks during rain” if the customer actually said, “I noticed the stain the next morning.” Preserve the difference.
A compact event log is more useful than a narrative reconstructed months later:

Assign stable IDs to the skylight and surrounding roof
If a roof has two similar units, a label such as “left skylight” will eventually create confusion.
Use identifiers such as:
SK-01 South Bedroom;SK-02 Hall Bath;RP-01 West Roof Plane;V-01 Valley Upslope of SK-01;P-01 Plumbing Vent Upslope; andIS-01 Interior Shaft at SK-01.
Put the ID on roof overviews, interior photos, close-ups, work orders, parts orders, changes, tests, warranty claims, and sign-off.
Identify the unit as far as the accessible evidence supports:
- manufacturer and product family;
- model, size code, serial number, label, or approximate dimensions;
- fixed, manual venting, electric, solar, or other operation;
- deck-mounted, curb-mounted, self-flashed, pan-flashed, structural, or site-built configuration;
- glazing type and visible markings;
- frame/cladding material and finish;
- insect screen, shade, remote, rain sensor, motor, and accessories;
- flashing kit or site-built flashing;
- roof covering and slope;
- curb dimensions and construction;
- interior shaft type and finish; and
- installation/roof replacement history.
Do not guess a model from glass size alone. Photograph the available label without exposing unrelated occupant information, then verify current manufacturer literature and replacement compatibility.
Distinguish deck-mounted, curb-mounted, and site-built conditions
The mounting configuration changes the repair.

The 2024 model IRC's skylight provisions address glazing, curbs for certain low-slope installations, and testing and labeling of unit skylights. The model roof chapter separately requires flashing around roof openings. Where its cricket-or-saddle rule would otherwise apply, it exempts unit skylights installed under Section R324.6 and flashed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Do not use a residential deck-mounted flashing detail on a commercial curb-mounted dome, or a shingle kit on a standing-seam metal roof.
Inspect the water path beyond the skylight frame
Water visible at SK-01 can originate above it.
Where access is safe and authorized, inspect and photograph:
Roof field and upslope drainage
- roof plane, slope, covering, age/condition, and drainage direction;
- ridges, valleys, walls, crickets, upper roofs, gutters, and penetrations upslope;
- damaged, displaced, missing, lifted, cracked, poorly cut, or incorrectly fastened covering;
- exposed or backed-out fasteners;
- patch cement and incompatible sealant;
- debris, moss, leaves, snow, ice, or ponded water;
- roof transitions and repair seams; and
- plausible lateral travel paths beneath the covering.
Skylight exterior
- head, sill, side, step, apron, saddle, counterflashing, and cladding configuration;
- missing, displaced, bent, corroded, short, reversed-lap, or face-fastened pieces;
- roof-covering clearance and course integration;
- self-adhering membrane or underlayment only where visible or exposed under authorized scope;
- curb height, slope, deterioration, joints, and cap fit;
- gaskets, glazing beads, caps, corner joints, weeps, condensation drains, and debris;
- glass cracks, seal failure indicators, impact, film, or coating;
- operable sash closure, lock, chain, motor, sensor, and power status;
- fasteners, sealants, and prior patches; and
- manufacturer detail conflicts.
Interior and shaft
- stain, drip, efflorescence, peeling, swelling, soft material, corrosion, and suspected microbial growth, without labeling it as mold or another hazard without evidence;
- exact wet/dry areas and moisture-screening readings;
- glazing and frame condensation;
- shaft insulation, air sealing, vapor control, ventilation, and thermal bridges visible within scope;
- roof framing or deck staining;
- electrical components and controls;
- ceiling/shaft finish condition; and
- concealed areas not opened.
FGIA's storm-driven rain white paper notes that water may enter above or away from a window, door, or skylight and travel through roof or wall construction before appearing at the opening. That is exactly why a service report should not assign cause from the stain location alone.
Separate rain intrusion, condensation, and operation-related water
Three common categories require different work:

ENERGY STAR's residential fenestration guidance explains the condensation mechanism for windows: moisture can form when an interior surface is colder than the dew point of humid indoor air. Its guidance recommends managing indoor humidity, maintaining airflow at the glazing, and insulating around the frame. Those same measurements—interior temperature, relative humidity, and surface condition—are useful context at a skylight, but the unit, shaft, and roof still need project-specific evaluation.
VELUX's current warranty explanation likewise distinguishes liquid water penetration from condensation for its products. That is one manufacturer's definition under its warranty, not a universal diagnostic rule, but it shows why the work order should record which condition was observed.
If both are possible, say so:
Interior condensation was observed at the lower glass/frame during dry cold conditions. Customer also reports a separate drip at the east shaft corner during wind-driven rain. These may be different conditions. Scope below addresses the exterior flashing path only; humidity, shaft insulation/air sealing, and interior finish are listed separately.
Use diagnostic confidence levels
Avoid false certainty. Classify each finding:
- Confirmed within test scope — direct observation or a controlled method established the stated path under the defined conditions.
- Probable — evidence supports the path more than alternatives, but concealed conditions or lack of reproduction remain.
- Possible — plausible condition requiring further access, weather, testing, or removal.
- Not supported by current evidence — the current inspection did not support it; this does not prove it can never occur.
- Not evaluated — outside scope, inaccessible, unsafe, concealed, or requires another specialist.

The report becomes more credible when it shows what would change the conclusion.
Choose diagnostic methods deliberately
Possible methods include:
- interior and exterior visual review;
- manufacturer label and record review;
- moisture-meter screening;
- infrared imaging under suitable thermal and moisture conditions;
- attic or shaft access;
- removal of selected roof covering or trim;
- controlled water application by planned zones;
- drainage/weep cleaning and observation;
- sash, gasket, motor, sensor, or closure check;
- manufacturer service review; and
- specialty fenestration, roofing, envelope, or design-professional assessment.
Each has limits. A surface moisture meter may respond to material and depth, not just water. Infrared images show temperature patterns, not water by themselves. A dry visit does not rule out an intermittent leak. Opening material can create repair work. A hose can force water where natural rain would not, miss a wind-driven path, or flood interior materials.
If controlled water testing is used, write a plan:
- party responsible;
- weather and baseline condition;
- interior observer and communication;
- protected property;
- starting zone and sequence from lower to higher areas;
- flow, duration, pressure, distance, and apparatus based on an approved method;
- stop triggers;
- observation interval;
- downstream drainage capacity;
- whether cladding/roofing is removed; and
- what a positive or negative result means.
Formal field testing may use ASTM E1105-15(2023), which applies controlled water and specified air-pressure conditions to installed exterior fenestration and recognizes that other procedures may be appropriate for locating a leak source. Do not call a simple hose check an ASTM E1105 test, and do not advertise “water test passed” as a universal no-leak certification. Record the actual method and conditions.
Define temporary protection as temporary
An emergency measure might include a tarp or temporary membrane suited to the roof and attachment method, a controlled exterior patch, interior catchment, or another system-specific measure. Some intuitive responses can make the condition worse:
- smearing sealant across drainage paths;
- blocking weeps or condensation channels;
- screwing a tarp through sound flashing or glazing;
- trapping water behind cladding;
- covering cracked glass without controlling falling material;
- adding incompatible chemistry;
- routing water into electrical equipment; or
- placing weight on a skylight.
The temporary authorization should state:
- exact location and objective;
- materials and attachment;
- existing surface condition;
- known compatibility limit;
- weather and access conditions;
- interior protection;
- time or event for reinspection;
- whether removal is included in the permanent repair;
- no promise of permanent leak correction; and
- customer monitoring and emergency contact.
Example:
Install temporary compatible membrane protection at the displaced roof-covering area upslope of SK-01, without fastening through the skylight unit. This measure is intended to reduce immediate rain entry until permanent work can proceed under suitable conditions. It is not a diagnosis, permanent repair, or warranty against water entry. Reinspect after the current weather event or sooner if water, movement, or damage continues.
Document before, during, and after. Do not leave an unnamed tube of sealant as the entire service record.
Present repair options around the actual failure path
Possible outcomes include:
Maintenance or part service
- clear approved weeps/drainage channels;
- remove debris without damaging components;
- adjust or repair closure/operator under manufacturer procedure;
- replace a listed gasket, corner key, cladding piece, motor, sensor, or other service part; and
- complete required finish/maintenance.
Local roof-covering repair
- remove a defined area of shingles or other covering;
- inspect and repair deck/underlayment within a stated boundary;
- replace displaced step/head/sill flashing components under an approved detail;
- restore covering, fasteners, and sealants; and
- preserve skylight unit where verified suitable.
Full reflash
- remove covering around the unit to the required extent;
- remove existing flashing and underlayment as feasible;
- inspect deck/curb/unit attachment;
- install the matching current flashing kit or approved site-built system;
- install required self-adhering membrane/underlayment in the proper sequence;
- restore roof covering and cladding; and
- document each concealed layer.
When the repair opens the roof assembly, use the underlayment, ice-barrier, and drip-edge quote guide to identify the layers, quantities, product requirements, and concealed-condition approval path instead of carrying “flashing and membrane” as an undefined allowance.
Skylight replacement
- remove the existing unit and flashing;
- inspect rough opening, curb, framing, deck, shaft, and wiring;
- install the selected unit and matching system for the roof slope, roof covering, size, and operation, with the required testing and labeling;
- install matching flashing and membrane system;
- complete curb/framing, electrical, interior shaft, insulation/air sealing, trim, paint, shade, and controls only as listed; and
- complete any required registration and deliver the warranty documents.
Broader roof or envelope correction
- valley, upper roof, wall, chimney, drainage, or whole-roof work;
- investigation by a design professional or building-envelope specialist;
- insulation/air sealing/ventilation work;
- hazardous-material assessment;
- structural repair; and
- drying/remediation and interior reconstruction.
A narrow flashing patch should not be sold as a permanent skylight repair if the unit, curb, roof, or concealed assembly is failing more broadly.
Use manufacturer instructions for the identified system
ASTM E2112-23 treats skylight installation as part of a coordinated building-envelope water-shedding system and includes skylight flashing procedures, while preserving the role of project-specific conditions, manufacturer instructions, and qualified design. It is useful context, not a substitute for the instructions and approved details for the identified unit.
VELUX's flashing-system guide demonstrates how product selection changes with deck- versus curb-mounting, shingles/shakes, tile, metal, groups of skylights, and roof slope. Its installation resource organizes instructions by skylight and flashing type, while its technical-resource index provides current product drawings and specifications.
That is one manufacturer's system, not a generic detail for all skylights. For the actual unit:
- Identify manufacturer and model.
- Retrieve current instructions for the unit, flashing, underlayment, curb, controls, and roof covering.
- Confirm permitted slope and substrate.
- Confirm compatible parts and availability.
- Check current warranty and reroof/reflash requirements.
- Resolve conflicts with adopted code, approved documents, and existing construction.
If the manufacturer is unknown or discontinued, state who is responsible for designing and approving a replacement or site-built detail. Do not represent a fabricated repair as manufacturer-approved unless it is.
Quote replacement as more than the unit price
Record:
- exterior frame/curb and rough-opening dimensions;
- roof slope and covering;
- deck- or curb-mount selection;
- fixed/venting operation;
- glass, safety glazing, tint, coating, energy performance, and impact requirements;
- flashing kit/system;
- self-adhering membrane and underlayment;
- curb construction or modification;
- framing/header work and engineering status;
- wiring, circuit, controls, rain sensor, solar components, and electrician scope;
- interior shaft geometry;
- insulation, air sealing, vapor control, drywall, texture, primer, paint, trim, and finish-match limits;
- blind/shade and insect screen;
- permit and inspection;
- roof-covering replacement area and color/weathering match;
- disposal and interior protection;
- control setup, operation check, and customer instruction; and
- manufacturer and contractor warranty.
Do not promise an exact shingle or paint match on aged finishes unless the quoted method can achieve it. Define the patch boundary and put the match limitation in the approved scope.
Define who owns the interior damage scope
Roof repair and interior restoration are different scopes.
Assess:
- active water containment;
- drying and moisture monitoring;
- insulation removal/replacement;
- drywall/plaster condition;
- paint and texture;
- trim and shaft lining;
- flooring, furniture, and contents;
- suspected microbial growth or hazardous materials;
- electrical inspection; and
- insurer or third-party documentation.
Choose one boundary:
Interior scope includes removal of visibly damaged drywall within the marked
4 ft × 3 ftshaft area, drying by the named provider to its documented criterion, replacement insulation as specified, drywall patch, one texture method, primer, and paint to the listed break lines. Mold/asbestos/lead assessment, concealed framing repair, electrical work, contents, and finish outside those boundaries are excluded pending assessment.
Or:
Interior drying, environmental assessment, electrical evaluation, insulation, drywall, trim, paint, contents, and consequential damage are by others. Roofer will coordinate reasonable access and document the exterior repair; no interior restoration is included.
If the interior scope will disturb painted drywall, plaster, trim, or shaft surfaces in pre-1978 housing or a child-occupied facility, determine whether the federal EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule or an EPA-authorized state program applies before pricing or opening the surface. Do not assume that an active leak exempts every restoration step: EPA's emergency-renovation guidance describes a limited emergency provision and says that cleaning, cleaning verification, and specified records still apply, while non-emergency work returns to the ordinary requirements.
Avoid “interior damage not our problem.” Define the handoff and emergency escalation.
Set a stop point for concealed conditions
Removing shingles, flashing, curb caps, trim, or drywall can expose:
- rotten or delaminated deck;
- deteriorated curb/framing;
- missing membrane;
- suspected microbial growth;
- wet insulation;
- corroded fasteners;
- insect damage;
- unsafe wiring;
- cracked glazing edge;
- incorrect rough opening; or
- discontinued or incompatible components.
Write:
Base scope assumes sound deck, curb, rough opening, and framing except conditions identified in Findings F-01 through F-03. If opening exposes unsuitable or unsafe concealed material, stop affected work, protect the opening, photograph and measure the condition, identify any required specialist, design, or permit review, and obtain written approval before added permanent work.
Use a change order with location, condition, new scope, price, schedule, warranty, and approval. California's home-improvement contract guidance is one state example emphasizing detailed materials and work, plus written, signed changes. Follow the current law for the project state.
The hidden-condition guide provides plain wording for that stop, notice, evidence, price, and approval sequence. Once the repair is complete, issue the actual roofing warranty and completion sign-off with the unit ID, approved option, test performed, limits, and any open interior work.
Keep skylight safety explicit
For fall-protection planning, do not assume that a skylight is a compliant cover. Glazing that merely looks strong is not proof of a walking surface or adequate fall-through protection.
OSHA's construction fall-protection standard specifically includes skylights in its rules for holes and addresses roof edges, low-slope roofs, steep roofs, and residential construction. OSHA's skylight interpretation explains that a skylight itself may be treated as a cover only when it meets the cover criteria in 29 CFR 1926.502(i)(2). Until those criteria are verified, plan another applicable means of protection. OSHA-approved State Plans may impose different or additional requirements.
The employer's job hazard analysis should address:
- roof access and surface strength;
- skylight/opening protection;
- edge and slope;
- wet, icy, brittle, hot, or deteriorated surfaces;
- anchors, guardrails, covers, personal fall arrest, warning lines, or other applicable controls;
- rescue;
- interior falling-object zone;
- cracked glazing;
- tools and removed components;
- electrical skylight controls;
- weather and wind; and
- temporary opening protection between shifts.

Do not put “technician walks roof” in the scope before evaluating a safe access method. A drone or ground review can support triage but cannot replace necessary direct inspection.
Verify the repair without overclaiming
Closeout can include:
- visual comparison to approved unit/flashing detail;
- product, part, and label verification;
- membrane, flashing, roof-covering, cladding, gasket, curb, and fastener photos;
- sash/lock/motor/sensor operation;
- drainage/weep observation;
- controlled water test under the written method if appropriate;
- interior moisture-screening follow-up;
- customer monitoring period; and
- manufacturer service or warranty submission.
Write the result precisely:
No liquid water was observed at the monitored interior locations during the controlled application described in Test T-01. Test used the stated zones, flow, durations, and dry baseline. It does not reproduce every wind, rain, snow, ice, drainage, condensation, or future material condition. Customer will report recurrence with weather, time, location, and photographs.
If the leak is intermittent and not reproduced, say so. The repair can still address a documented defect, but the warranty should not pretend that every possible path was proven.
Separate product, workmanship, and existing-condition warranties
Separate:
- Manufacturer unit warranty — glass, frame, controls, finish, or other listed product terms.
- Manufacturer flashing/system warranty — subject to the identified product's stated eligibility, installation, and registration conditions.
- Contractor workmanship warranty — defined installed repair/replacement work.
- Existing roof/skylight exclusions — components not replaced and conditions not caused or corrected by the contractor.
A single manufacturer document may combine unit and flashing terms; keep the responsibilities distinct even when the paperwork does not.
The cited VELUX warranty summary, for example, ties coverage to correct installation and lists condensation, incompatible replacement parts, and neglected maintenance among its exclusions. The current written warranty—not the summary—controls. Never copy those terms onto another manufacturer or paraphrase a marketing headline as the customer's entire warranty.
State:
- warrantor;
- exact covered work/components;
- duration and start under the actual terms;
- claim notice and access;
- repair/remedy;
- maintenance;
- transfer and registration;
- exclusions; and
- relationship to nonwaivable law.
Do not promise “the skylight will never leak.” Warrant only the workmanship and components actually within your control, using the written terms.
Close with a sign-off that matches the job file
The final package should include:
- customer intake and event timeline;
- roof/interior plan with IDs;
- before photos;
- assessment findings and confidence levels;
- access/test limits;
- temporary measure authorization and removal status;
- accepted repair or replacement proposal;
- approved changes;
- material/part records and current instructions used;
- concealed-work and completed photos;
- test/operation results;
- interior damage handoff;
- invoice;
- manufacturer documents and registrations; and
- contractor warranty and maintenance instructions.
A completion sign-off should describe what it means:
Customer acknowledges that the listed work was reviewed, the listed documents were delivered, and open items are recorded below. The signature records this completion review; it does not ask the customer to certify concealed conditions, waive rights that cannot be waived, or declare that leakage cannot recur under conditions not tested.
Electronic sign-off can be used where the transaction and law permit. The federal ESIGN Act generally prevents a signature or record in a covered transaction from being denied effect solely because it is electronic, while preserving other contract, consumer, delivery, consent, and retention requirements. Tie the signature to the exact work order and sign-off revision.

Common questions
- Does water beside a skylight prove that the skylight is leaking?
- No. It identifies only where water became visible. Water can enter at the unit, flashing, curb, roof covering, valley, wall, or another upslope point and travel. Interior condensation can also create water without rain entry.
- How can a contractor distinguish condensation from rain leakage?
- Use the event timeline, weather correlation, interior humidity and temperature, water location, roof/shaft inspection, and appropriately limited testing. Both conditions can occur at the same unit, so do not force every symptom into one cause.
- Should a skylight repair start with more sealant?
- Not automatically. Sealant can block drainage, hide a failed flashing sequence, be incompatible, or create a short-lived patch. Identify the unit and water-shedding detail, then use only an approved material and location.
- Can a roofer guarantee the leak source after one dry visit?
- Usually not without direct evidence. Record confirmed, probable, possible, unsupported, and unevaluated paths. State what access or test would improve confidence.
- What should an emergency skylight work order include?
- Record the active condition, safety hazards, weather, protected interior area, exact temporary measure, attachment/material, limitations, monitoring, reinspection, and permanent-repair next step.
- Is a hose test enough to prove a repair?
- Not by itself. A controlled water test can support diagnosis or closeout when properly planned, but it may not reproduce wind-driven rain, ice backup, snowmelt, long-duration rain, or concealed travel. Record the actual method and limit.
- Should the entire skylight be replaced when flashing leaks?
- It depends on unit age/condition, model support, glazing, operation, curb/deck condition, roof life, compatible flashing availability, warranty, and cost of reopening the roof later. Present local repair, reflash, and replacement options when each is feasible.
- What is the difference between deck-mounted and curb-mounted skylights?
- A deck-mounted unit attaches at the roof deck/rough opening under its system detail. A curb-mounted unit caps a raised curb that is separately constructed and flashed. Measurements, slope limits, flashing kits, and repair boundaries differ.
- Does replacing the roof require reflashing an existing skylight?
- Do not assume that the existing flashing can be reused. Follow the current skylight and roof-system manufacturer instructions, adopted code, existing condition, and warranty, then state explicitly what will be reused or replaced.
- Who repairs wet drywall and insulation below the skylight?
- The quote should name the responsible party. Define emergency containment, drying, environmental assessment, electrical evaluation, insulation, drywall, texture, paint, trim, and contents rather than assuming the exterior roofer owns all interior restoration.
- Does interior skylight repair trigger the EPA RRP Rule?
- It can. Paid work that disturbs painted surfaces in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities may fall under the federal RRP Rule or an authorized state program, subject to its limits and exceptions. Check applicability before opening the shaft: the emergency provision is limited, and cleaning, cleaning verification, and specified records still apply.
- What if concealed curb or deck rot is found?
- Stop affected work, protect the opening, document location and extent, determine design/permit/specialist needs, and obtain approval under a defined unit price, allowance, or change order before permanent concealment.
- Is a skylight safe to stand on?
- Do not treat a skylight as a walking surface merely because the glazing appears strong. OSHA's skylight interpretation says that the skylight itself may serve as a cover only if it meets the applicable cover criteria. Otherwise, use the required protection and employer controls.
- What should the customer sign at completion?
- The sign-off should identify the performed scope, changes, test method/results, delivered documents, interior handoff, open items, warranty, and monitoring instructions. It should not force the customer to certify concealed technical facts or waive rights.
