When to use this template
Log daily project activity online, then generate a daily report PDF for stakeholders. Use this every working day on an active job site to create a permanent record of work performed, workforce present, conditions encountered, and any events that could affect cost or schedule.
What to include
- Date, project name, report number, weather conditions at morning and afternoon including temperature and precipitation, and the name of the superintendent or foreman completing the report.
- Workforce log listing each trade on site, the subcontractor company name, headcount by trade, and hours worked, plus a note on any trades that were expected but did not show up.
- Work performed that day described by location and activity, such as poured footings at grid A1 through A5, set steel columns at grid B, and installed underground plumbing at the east wing.
- Deliveries received with material type, quantity, supplier, and where it was stored or staged, plus any equipment mobilized or demobilized from the site.
- Issues and delays documented: safety incidents, inspection results, weather delays, RFI hold-ups, material shortages, visitor log entries, and any verbal directions from the owner or architect that should be confirmed in writing.
Common questions
- Can I complete this Construction Daily Report / Daily Log online at end of day?
- Yes. Capture labor, equipment, weather, progress, and issues directly in-browser.
- Can I save this Construction Daily Report / Daily Log for continuous project tracking?
- Yes. With an account, save each day and maintain a complete project chronology for claims and coordination.
- Can I generate a distribution-ready PDF from this Construction Daily Report / Daily Log?
- Yes. Export a clear PDF for owners, PMs, and subcontractor communication.
- Why do I need daily reports on small jobs?
- Daily reports are your best evidence if there is a dispute about schedule delays, extra work, or site conditions. Even on a small job, a one-paragraph daily note with a headcount and weather record protects you.
- Who should fill out the daily report?
- The superintendent or site foreman fills it out at the end of each day. On projects with multiple primes, each general contractor completes their own report for their scope.
- What is the most important thing to document?
- Anything that differs from the plan. Delays, extra work, missing trades, owner-caused disruptions, and changed conditions are the entries that matter most if a claim arises later.
- Should I take photos every day?
- Yes. Take timestamped photos of work in progress, deliveries, and any problem conditions. Attach or reference them in your daily report. Photos are the single most useful backup to written documentation.
