When to use and what to include

Assign and adjust execution details online, then generate a field-ready work order PDF. Use this after the contract is signed and before your installers arrive, so the crew knows exactly what material to bring, what subfloor prep to expect, and how each room should be finished.

What to include

  • Job site address, access instructions, and which rooms need furniture moved (by the client or your crew) before installation begins.
  • Material list with exact quantities: flooring boxes by SKU and lot number, underlayment rolls, moisture barrier, adhesive or nails, transition strips by type and length, and quarter-round or baseboard.
  • Subfloor prep instructions: what demo is needed (pull existing carpet/vinyl/tile), leveling requirements with product and thickness, and moisture test results with acceptable thresholds for the material being installed.
  • Installation direction and pattern for each room: plank direction relative to the longest wall or light source, stagger pattern, expansion gap size, and how to handle doorways and transitions between flooring types.
  • Completion checklist: all rooms installed, transitions in place, trim reinstalled, floor cleaned, leftover material count noted, and customer walkthrough signed.

Common questions

Can I edit this Flooring Work Order before work starts?
Yes. Update the crew, site notes, materials, tasks, and schedule in the guided form before downloading the final PDF.
Can I save this Flooring Work Order and reuse its details for similar jobs?
Yes. With an account, save it in your history, edit it later, and reuse its job details as a starting point for similar work.
Can I export this Flooring Work Order as a crew-ready PDF?
Yes. Generate a PDF your team can open on-site or print for job folders.
How do I handle lot number consistency?
Note the lot numbers on the work order. Flooring from different lots can have visible color variation. Keep the same lot in each room, and place mixed lots in closets or less visible areas.
Should the work order specify acclimation time for the flooring material?
Yes. Record the delivery date, required acclimation period, site conditions, and earliest installation date so the crew schedule aligns with material readiness.
How do I keep work orders easy to identify?
Give each job a reference number and record its customer, work, assigned crew, planned date, status, and completion notes. With an account, you can save each PDF in your document history.
Is a work order useful for a small job?
It can be. A short work order records the requested tasks, price, planned date, assigned crew, and customer acknowledgment in one job document.
